FAQ About Affiliation

How much does my affiliation fee with BACCHUS cost?
The amount of your annual BACCHUS peer education group affiliation is $300.  Fees will be paid each calendar year for services from January to December.  Campus peer education groups will pay their fees as part of the charter renewal process each year.

What does my affiliation fee provide?
Your $300 will assist in funding direct services to your campus.  Campus affiliations are important to the sustainability of our national nonprofit organization, but it is not the only funding that contributes to operations. Affiliation fees, along with grant funding, donations, materials sales and corporate partner support, allow us to continue providing the great resources and training opportunities to campuses that support peer education leadership.

Why do all campuses pay the same amount?
We have not created a sliding scale based on campus size because all services provided are the same for each campus due to the electronic delivery of materials through our website and direct email news.

Can we have more than one affiliated group on the same campus?
Yes, there can be more than one peer education group on the same campus involved with a unique constituency or unique health or safety topic.  Each group might want their own access, discounts and services.  If you have more than one peer education group on your campus, you might decide to umbrella these groups under one membership with one advisor.  You also have the choice to affiliate as many peer education groups as budgets might allow.  It is your decision to make for your own campus.

How does this fee compare to other national student organization fees?
In researching various other national student associations, $300 is a very conservative affiliation fee amount that many campuses can support.

What if we don’t have $300 in our current budget?
Given all that campuses receive as a BACCHUS Network Affiliate, we hope you start adding the annual affiliation fee in to your annual budget to keep your group active.  We know that some campuses might be challenged to stretch their budgets to cover this affiliation fee.  We have provided a complete fundraising idea list created by our key volunteers and students that will help you secure your budget and bring visibility and recognition to your group.
There are many members of your campus community that might be helpful in getting sponsorship for your affiliation fee including Student Affairs, Parents Association, and Alumni, just to name a few.

How does BACCHUS define a year?
Affiliation Runs on the Calendar Year: The cost of affiliation is annual and runs from January 1 - December 31 regardless of the time of year you join. Peer educator groups will be notified via email to their advisor and student contact through the Charter Renewal process in January.  When the renewal is submitted online, the group will have the choice to pay their fee by check or credit card.

How will my campus access the log-in area of the websites?
Affiliated groups will be provided a password to access the affiliate benefits throughout the year.

I am a new affiliate joining for the first time? What is my group’s fee?
Non-Affiliated Campus Peer Education Groups Joining BACCHUS for the First Time: The cost of affiliation is $300.

What if I don’t have funding to affiliate but want to stay involved?
This option should be your last resort and we encourage you to follow up to gain financial support from others and raising funds included in this membership program.  You can stay involved in more limited ways through our websites, but you will not receive any member benefits or communications until you are an official affiliate. (See member benefits.)  You will not receive any discounts on conference fees, material purchases, trainings.

What is your refund policy?
Refund Policy:  There are no refunds granted for peer education affiliation fees.  It is up to each affiliate to keep their contact information up to date with the national office by email (admin@bacchusnetwork.org) or phone (303-871-0901) to receive all of the resources from the organization.
